I get the sense that the wealthy — and I count politicians in corrupt countries like ours among them — have three major derangements that make them a threat to all other life: greed, powerlust, and detachment. It's not *just* that they want everything and want to control everyone, it's that they don't even see other living things as anything but resources to be exploited, let alone people as people. They can't even imagine that we need food, or tools that actually work.
