It wasn't clear to me whether you viewed it as a conditional or a certainty as the rest of your argument seemed to rest on the condition holding, which I think is the case far less often than you believe. Consider the right to repair movement, for example, which is far bigger than (is probably a strict superset of) "hardware freedom activists"
