@Someguy @Roscoe @pepsi_man Frank Herbert wrote up an excellent thought experiment, in the Dune series; comparing and contrasting eugenics programs from conflicting philosophies.
1) Bene Gesserit; understand DNA, but rely upon natural breeding to attain desired results, and
2) Bene Tlielaxu; who rely upon direct genetic modification according to their agenda.
As far as I know, he was the first to put this dialectic into a fictional narrative. It’s insightful and thought-provoking, and such a consideration holds great relevance in today’s milieu.
