     @colinsmatt11 that machine is not even dependent on copyright.

     You cannot change it without the sources, and they don’t give you those. It can keep you paying forever (except if some evil techno-communists¹ come around and make their surreal libre software that cheats the poor proprietary machine peddlers out of the subscription fees they are due).
