    > Finance officials and economists recognize that tax competition among nations to attract foreign investment has resulted in a race to the bottom. They are concerned that this competition causes a substantial loss of tax revenue and endangers financing for government functions in higher-tax countries.

@lain Seriously, what is the bad part? Especially considering how hostile Western governments are to their native populations

      - don't insult any religion
      - don't proselytize
      - no insults, no being drunk in public
      - internet is censored (mostly for porn) but everybody uses a VPN
      - had one lockdown at the beginning of the covid stuff, nothing much since then, depedending on the emirates. Abu Dhabi was strict about testing to go into public places, Dubai didn't care.
      - You can open a company in one of the freezones and get a 3 year residency visa for < $5000, no taxes, you only have to be present in the country for like 3 days.

I know "don't insult islam" is a thing, but what about covid tyranny? What about bureaucracy?

I'm curious exactly how they define what is and isn't "religion", and therefore worthy of protection from being offended.

I think if the US federal government would be reduced to that which is explicated in the US Constitution, New Hampshire would be the greatest place to live in the entire world.

@lain meanwhile high tax countries with a high living standard still function fine. the issue is when there is no gain for the taxes.
