Another #Photography hashtag I'm only too happy to join in with is #StairSunday and this is a pretty special set. This is the triple helix #spiral staircase at the Museo do Pobo Galego in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, shot in 2018. The #museum is fabulous and these #stairs are the stars of the place. Part of a convent building, the #design was deliberate, to confuse unauthorised visitors.

1. Standing at the bottom of a set of spiral staircase looking directly up the tower in which they are set. Three distinct handrails twist upwards, one starting bottom right, one starting mid left, and one starting from the top centre as we look at it, all spiralling clockwise and rising up three storeys. There is a dim warmness to the tones low down in the tower with some short, vertical, tubular lighting in yellow, but the uppermost reaches of the tower are glaring and white, indicative of windows at the top letting in natural, bright light, although none can be seen from this angle. The walls of the tower are plain and off-white, while the sloping underside of the spiral stairs are lined with rough, brick-like patterns in beige.

2. Standing in a circular tower on a flight of spiral steps curving around the interior wall, looking across at two more spiralling staircases curving up the wall opposite, one above the other, both rising from lower right towards the upper left, and both twisting sharply to show their smooth undersides lined with a brick-like pattern. To the right the uppermost of the two staircases joins with an open doorway through which a plain white corridor with some doorways off can be seen. The tower walls are lit by short, vertical, tubular lights.
