     @sun supporting Gamergate back in 2014 probably killed my writing career. it was painful at the time, but it was probably good for me in the long run.

     @noyoushutthefuckupdad @sun i never tried to make writing a career. i wrote a novel once for nanowrimo. trying to get it sold informed me this is an industry that doesn't want workers.
     
     i haven't wrote a book since because nobody would even read it for free.
     
     so much of the market isn't even about if you're a good writer (people would tell me they enjoyed an exerpt, but then they wouldn't read the rest...), streamer, or whatever, but the sheer prostitution aspect of being able to forcibly claim attention to even be evaluated in the first place.

     I don't regret getting a normie job with a steady paycheck for one moment. though I still have books I want to write...

     @icedquinn @noyoushutthefuckupdad @sun I've heard the argument that a reader holds more power in the book publishing industry than a writer, which seems to hold weight. A reader's well-written review of a novel can push more copies than any effort performed of its writer or publisher. 99% of published books sell less than 100 copies...
