     >Yes, Heather Thomas broke both of her legs. In September 1986, she was struck by a car while jaywalking across San Vicente Boulevard in Los Angeles, resulting in serious fractures to both legs. The accident required six hours of plastic and orthopedic surgery, and she underwent further procedures during her recovery.
