     @sj Why would Delta lie about what the hotspot name was? It wasn't random was it? You could try STFU until you know the actual circumstances instead of sounding as stupid as the morons on that flight.

     @nf3xn "no idea whether they..." and "I hope the feds... charged them" is the whole entire problem I'm highlighting right there.

     We've seen no evidence of anything worth a federal criminal case. Demanding charges now is hyperventilating pearl clutching and the opposite of any kind of healthy hacker culture.

     @sj So it wasn't random was it? You actually have no idea whether they deauthed anyone, the common practise using this attack. It caused panic on a commercial flight for a good portion of the flight so it wasn't an accident. You can walk away from "FBI Surveillance Van" in a conference hall in Vegas and "FBI Surveillance Van" could have been fine in this situation possibly even funny. Facts matter. Context matters. I hope the feds conducted a thorough investigation and charged them.

     @sj Delta staff were not pearl-clutching. Interfering with the safe operation of a commmercial flight is not a joke. We'll see whether the Feds met them at the gate, seized their equipment and took them into interview. I can think of half a dozen things they could be charged with before we even get to the cyber law that you'd assume DEFCON attendees would know about. Absent a complete dereliction of duty they are in a world of shit. I doubt the judge will gaf about imaginary 'hacker culture' bs.

     @nf3xn Literally no evidence of any safety impact to a commercial flight whatsoever. It's a Wi-Fi hotspot. You seriously think a random Wi-Fi hotspot could impact critical safety systems on a plane? Believing that would definitely be the joke here.
