only question here is does greater Appalachia actually stretch into new york ( I think yes )

I'd split NJ into yankee, tidewater and new netherlands

Are we looking at the same map?

Are you? Measure it. Taking diagonals across the lakes as the border the land borders are almost half of the total border length.

That is, by definition, not a "land border".

Just from the map there is a lot of land border. An immense amount of trade occurs across it alone, not considering the lakes. And politically Heritage Canadians and Northern Heritage Americans are very aligned politically. You see this in the nascent Alberta independence movement.

Are we looking at the same map? The only connection I see is water.

They will be strong allies. There's no doubt of that. I'm just saying I don't expect them to be a united political entity.

While the exact borders can be argued, I think this is the closest to reality map I've seen. Note that the two halves of Yankeedom probably won't be united as a single entity.

The Northern Midlands has a *lot* in common with Yankeedom. Minus the resident traitors and imported diversity there is a tonne of good will between Heritage Canadians and Americans. A union occurring ultimately there is not out of hand.

Their only physical connection is via the Great Lakes. That's not conducive to a shared political structure, which is why I'm saying it's unlikely.
