    RE: https://nileane.fr/@nileane/116715874283622057

    CORRECT ME IF AM WRONG:

isn’t AUDITABLE access to #Apple’s proprietary systems what @EUCommission is asking for?

    APPLE IS A #MONOPOLY

#EU regulators have said monopolies don't champion human rights. they only champion their monopoly.

that's why they started with the low-hanging fruit of USB cables, for an interoperable standard.

so the issue is: regulators demand Apple open up their proprietary systems to scrutiny and they won’t. not to protect users, but to protect their monopoly.

They just dropped a press release explaining why they chose not to release the new Siri AI in the EU: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/06/due-to-dma-siri-ai-delayed-in-eu-for-ios-27-and-ipados-27/ Long story short, their argument is "the EU Commission wants us to give any AI system unlimited access to a user's device", "we proposed a technical solution that we would roll out over an 18-month period", and "They said no"

@blogdiva @EUCommission It's kinda both. The problem is that *nothing* that has network/communication access to exfiltrate data should be able to have this kind of invasive access to apps that they want to give "Siri AI". The right solution isn't to lock it down to only the service Apple trusts or to break their monopoly access, but to codify that any system like this is illegal spyware.

@danielmunoz @blogdiva @EUCommission If they're "agentic" (capable of issuing controlling inputs) they're still a gaping vulnerability and should not exist.

@dalias @blogdiva @EUCommission So, if local models where capable of doing the required work, there would be no issue? Or we would still have security concerns?
