If text search is ever implemented, it should be limited to your home timeline/mentions only. Lack of full-text search on general content is intentional, due to negative social dynamics of it in other networks

Maybe he's still high from the Time Magazine shvt. I don't see how full text search is a social dynamic problem. It's a technical one. Elasticsearch can eat hardware for breakfast and be costly to run. Multiply that by n(x) instances one federates with and the hardware required ramps up faster. -

The search is incredibly useful during catastrophes, and live events. And the safeguard to avoid the problem you mention is already in place: the tweet can be made available only to followers.
