  Software runs from the RAM. It gives no fucks about the hard drive once its loaded. The RAM needed to compress 500 GB howevere... this guy might be a billionaire.

  Given how VHS tapes are known to stretch and break when the get too hot for too long, I wager a tape drive going forward and reverse that much didn't live very long.

  The tapes were smaller, and held about 512mb to 1gb. They were fine for backup. I wouldn't use them actively. They were very slow.

  Nice. This was modern casette (not audio) tape drive backups. A little easier to deal with than feeding a reel to reel.
