     Matter is the physical thing, calorie is an energy over time thing. Fire is one way of measuring it. Not sure if there are any other ways of measuring it, but fire is the most used. 😎 👍

     I'm wary of saying anything that exists due to a process of time isn't physical / matter. That's like saying rocks aren't material they're just the movement of atoms over time and collapse into just that at any slice.
     
     I'm more Kantian. If it can be measured, it's material, or at least the measurement was of the phenomenally material presentation of the neumimal thing.

     He's not entirely off, originally calorie did not pertain to food apparently. It was a steam measurement or something.
