      Well they were filmed analog, and the 4k versions are often made from the original master negatives.

      It's one of the reasons you don't see 8K remasters (other than the fact no one is buying 8k TVs). 8k scanners go past the limits of most of that old film, so you either get noise or you're using an upscaler and no longer just remastering the original.

      @djsumdog @vitalis @kolya movies have been filmed in very high res for a very very long time
      But the tech to actually view that by the average consumer is a lot more recent

      Same kinda thing as mics - they've been basically the same for like 50 years or something
