I've got some experience in that regard and they can do things in post-prod that'll make you into whatever they want you to be. You have to be extremely careful in how you structure your sentences.

  And even if the journo is not trying to make you seem different than you are, the editor might say "No, this is too complex, the story is more interesting if you emphasize this and drop everything else". Additionally, like, even well-intentioned, hard-working journos with latitude from the editor will collapse stuff due to time and space constraints.
  
  There was a journo that wrote into 2600 about why journos fuck up so often; one thing that's interesting, besides the guy laying out some of the practical reality, is that the general journalistic contempt for their readers.

I'm sure *some* of those people intended to try to figure out the world and show it to people.
