I’m in a random strip mall in Fremont and it’s got:
- a good Kathi roll shop
- a regional Chinese restaurant specialized in crepes and buns from Tianjin
- an Afghan ice cream shop
- an Afghan kebab shop

@jbaggs and LA
@skinnylatte Dead strip malls are the go to places for good regional food in the bay area. Prove me wrong.
@CavedaleRhones all of them. I had friends who were into it so we had a few things at each place
@skinnylatte Which one(s) did you try?
The tianjin shop (Bun Bun Chinese) has some of the best baos I’ve had here
I was glad to be with friends who were very up for trying everything, so we literally ordered a few things at each place. It was a delicious night
@deathkitten look up ‘bun bun Chinese food’, it’s that spot
@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io there are so many random strip malls in this sprawling suburban wasteland. Dare I ask where abouts that was?
@jbaggs probably a ton of great food at 2am in LA in strip malls and on the streets too!
@skinnylatte I'm regretting I never got into the LA food scene when I lived in San Diego. I used to make trips from there up to the bay area and always blasted through LA at 2AM to avoid traffic.
@irene I find the accent harder to understand. Even more rrrrs than Beijing it seems
@skinnylatte mmm I had the best jian bing of my life in Tianjin
@CharlieMcHenry haven’t been to this specific event but what a great idea
@skinnylatte Now you’ve made my mouth water😋 Have you been to the annual “Dumpling Week” in Portland OR? They’ve just wrapped up this year’s event.
