     Is it at all surprising, this level of fundamental ineptitude? They can't even install a Shah anymore without fucking it up in a multitude of ways.

     @steter @TheJen @theogrin It's probably academic at this point, but one wonders if the ayatollah kept the potential foreign puppets close by, figuring the US couldn't possibly be stupid enough to wipe out their preferred stooges alongside him, or if they killed all possible friendly replacements in separate strikes.

     The question is basically about the exact shape of incompetence we're saddled with.
