I subscribed to Peacock just to watch Olympics coverage, but good lord. The frequency of commercial breaks is downright disgusting.

@codemonkeymike Yea man, remember the consumer mindset of streaming services in the beginning? "I will GLADLY pay you to remove ads..."
Now my mindset is honestly: I'm either gonna buy the Blu-Rays or pirate the content... -

@killyourfm isn't it wild to pay for sowmthhng and still get nonstop ads.
This is my complaint with the NFL too. Shit should be free with all the ads

@freaktechnik ehhh I don’t need English. I watched the World Cup and 2020 Olympics in Croatian and didn’t hate it :)

@killyourfm it's crazy to me how we just get all the streams as part of the public broadcaster here and some other places have a shittier version behind a paywall (oh wait, I pay for the public broadcaster too. But I think that's fine actually). But uh, maybe a VPN is the better investment then? 🤔 (Not sure what for example the beeb does since you'd want decent english broadcasts)

@raptor85 @codemonkeymike YUP. The fragmentation of all the content is one of the worst offenses.

@killyourfm @codemonkeymike I subbed to netflix back in the early days and it was great, a cheap monthly sub basically replaced renting movies and they had practically EVERYTHING.
These days it's 5x as expensive, they have seasons 3, 7, and 10 of a show (gotta have disney+, hulu, and paramount+ to view ALL the seasons), almost no classic movies or shows (those you gotta rent separately), and on top of all that they also have ADS.
I stopped streaming and went back to the old ways years ago.
