   Adventures in insurance pt 4922:

   I need a knee guy and a hand guy. Both are at the same ortho practice where I am a happy patient. They can’t be scheduled for the same day bc insurance won’t accept 2 bills from 2 docs in the same practice on the same day

   But as this is going to determine treatment (do I need a cast, to stay off it, to walk on it, etc) I don’t want to delay either appt until Mon.

   “Fine, I’ll pay cash for the 2nd appt on Friday”

   “We can’t bill you in cash, you have insurance”

     I saw the knee guy today. Hand guy (gal) already scheduled for Friday. But knee guy wants a stat MRI, and to go over the results with me on Friday

     If we knew for sure the MRI results would be ready late Thursday (tomw) we'd book the FU (follow-up, not the other thing) for late Thursday. But it's safer to make it for Friday morning

     Except the office booking system won't let them double book me, even for a cash payment

     Living both in the future and in the 1800s is just peachy

     @kims Dumb Q: why not just let insurance reject one of the bills? Or is the point that they won’t process EITHER claim in this scenario?

     Or that the provider won’t even let you double-schedule because they know what bastards the insurers are?
