   @aral Man, I'm always conflicted w.r.t. "small web": I recently built a small toddler sleep tracker for shared use with my wife. I want to share the result and chose the simplest deployment option imaginable -- a single PHP file.

   In these situations I often think of you and wonder why you picked a different route, and what I am missing.

     @ctietze What you’re doing is great. As a developer, I can grab a domain name, provision a shared server/VPS, lock the latter down with a non-root account, pop your one PHP file on it, point my DNS at it and start using my with my family.

     What I’m building is a peer-to-peer web where someone visits a web site, presses a button, perhaps initially agrees to pay an org ~€10/mo and, within 10 seconds, has their own web site at their own server where they can post publicly, be followed by others, and have end-to-end encrypted communication with others who have their own server.

     So they’re different things.

     Both are valuable.
