   It's weird how many people I come across that don't realize almost all stuff you return to stores just gets thrown away.

     @malcircuit @JessTheUnstill We have a local glass & mirror shop that does custom cuts fairly affordably. I tried finding online ones but didn't have much luck.

     @JessTheUnstill I ordered a jewelry box from Amazon as a gift, and there's a glass window on it that was shattered when I received it. I ended up giving them some money instead because I didn't have time to do anything about it.

     The piece of glass could probably be replaced, if I knew where/how to source a glass panel with the correct dimensions. I don't want to return it because I'm pretty sure it will just end up in the dumpster, which is an insane waste.

     @malcircuit @dalias It seems like most of these places don't do online because it's too much hassle for two low of margins. And trying to ship stuff as a small business is nearly impossible to do cost effectively, since many buyers now just expect free shipping or something

     @JessTheUnstill @malcircuit For metal and lots of other materials there's SendCutSend and similar services. But haven't seen one for glass/mirrors.

     I hadn't even considered that a local "glass shop" might be a thing. Seems like there are a number of them near me 🤔
