I would feel slightly better if the nominal opposition party weren't also anti-immigrant, anti-trans, etc., etc.

@gwynnion
If a dem runs on 'we will throw anyone who breaks the law in jail, absolutely including former government employees and ice, we will uphold the constitution, and we believe in human rights for all people ' it is landslide numbers on every single poll out there, in every district.Funny how absolutely nobody is running on it.
Because they frantically do not want to have to do that

Nothing promotes voter apathy like "moderate" Democratic indifference.

Like Obama and Biden competing to be "Deporter in Chief" didn't get them anywhere with Republicans or the Republican controlled media. It just helped Republicans promote a fake controversy that enabled Trump's election and the kinds of pogroms we see today, which Democrats of course turn a blind eye to.

Half of the shit Trump does is stuff Democrats wish they could do. (Or already were doing in a more mealy-mouthed way.)

@Oggie @gwynnion Police wouldn't let them do it. Until civilian government *actually* has some leverage against police mafia rule, any promise like this is undeliverable and is picking a fight with the guys with a monopoly on violence.

@dalias @Oggie @gwynnion yeah, the Supreme Court has spent over a century spoon-feeding stupid cops the exact words they want to hear to rubber stamp any violation of the putative rights of the people. Do you honestly think that the average cop could define “furtive motions” let alone recognize them?
