     @Infoseepage I owe a debt to colonized people because of it, not because of something I did. But because of privileges afforded to me by acts of colonization of those that came before me. The US still allows the wanton murder of natives in their reservations freely, your ancestors and you have most likely stood by and have this happen around you. Inaction counts as a moral failure too.

     @Infoseepage Land ownership didn't exist in the Americas before the colonizers arrived. Its introduction was used to push out natives from land they used to rely on for various means, whether that is agriculture, hunting, gathering, or other social functions.

     Regardless of the perceived utility of the land by you or your white ancestors—it was theirs and it was imposed upon and stolen in a systemically genocidal and colonialist way. It was wrong for Europeans to settle in the Americas, or anywhere else.

     I don't say this out of comfort or ease being in Europe, my ancestors include colonized people but also white settler colonists. And I have dealt with that fact—I have chosen to admonish the settlers and their acts of land theft. It doesn't matter what they did while they were there—they were wrong to go and part of an exploitative and racist system.

     @Infoseepage That last sentence is where you give away the colonizer worldview which is exactly how your ancestors were part and parcel of the genocide of the Indigenous peoples in so-called America.

     If you by any chance are interested in learning how that sentence shows your ancestors' colonization and part in the genocide, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson's book Theory of Water could be a small start.

     @Infoseepage @GLaDTheresCake @grb090423 @workingclasshistory The facts are simple: your ancestors settled on land that wasn't theirs and imposed their European capitalist way of living and worldview on the Indigenous peoples. That's the part of being complicit in genocide, at the least by benefitting from genocide, *all settlers and their descendants* have, and also people like me here in Europe.

     You defended the mass execution of Indigenous people *resisting their dispossession and genocide* by pointing to their acts of violence, while the very violent dispossession and genocide by Europeans, because of European notions of land possession and straight open land theft of the Untermenschen*, wasn't started by them. That's why your defense of that mass execution is at bottom a genocide defence.

     * There are strong links of colonialism with fascism, see e.g. the works of Césaire and Fanon just to name a few.
