"Future Studies" I heard of that when I was young and it still pops up now and then, also here in Sweden. I always thought it sounds both fake and pretentious and also egocentric. How can one "study" something that has not happened yet? You can try make predictions, but that is not study. Some of what I have seen, it is more wishful thinking, even if they wont admit that. #grumpy

@inscius I share your same disdain for “futurists”. I thought it might be cool to be someone that focuses on what’s the latest tech and tries to pay attention to what’s coming next and inform everyone, but when I listened to This Week in Tech, the people that called themselves “futurists” were the reason I stopped listening to that show. They were so full of themselves it was insufferable. And for some reason they always think the world would be and should be more collectivist.
