@mikuphile @teto @kerosene @maxmustermann dark mode is nice with dark background, grey text, but dark background and white text fucks my eye up, like this what mitra has is nice.

@teto @kerosene @maxmustermann Dark mode is hard to read though. Especially with those trannycord‐tier grey‐on‐grey color schemes. I've always been an IPS shitter but I just keep the lights on so it's not a problem to stare at a white screen.

@maxmustermann @kerosene older normies hate dark mode. At the most normie company I worked at my boss always told me to turn on light mode in jira whenever I was sharing my screen because it was "too hard to read"

@kerosene Ive compared it with my old LCD dell monitors and yes it does look darker in dark spots and colours look overall better due to this. But this is a luxury thing nobody really needs imo

@teto @kerosene There is also a huge ergonomic reason. Reading black on white on something self-luminous is like staring into a light bulb all day. Nobody likes to become disabled thanks to a bunch of listicles scorching his retina. Most good modern websites don't even use white as background color.

@kerosene it saves electricity if you have set everything to dark mode. Because actually black pixels are turned off. Thats all it is. If you have everything in light mode it's not worth it other than for gaming. Which I will be using it for as well.

@teto Is HDR really worth it? I keep hearing people say who the shadows look darker and the bright spots so much brighter but I don't know if I really care about it. On the other hand I actually do like OLED's true blacks (real niggas), especially when I'm watching movies.
