    Butchery has required extensive regulation since the Egyptians. It is quick and easy to kill everyone near and dear to you without skill & knowledge. The entire judeo-christian-islamic faith movement is based on dietary regulation, much of it still relevant.

    Conflating 'markets' with the precautions on meat is not reasonable, imo. I did not see a single faq regarding produce, or milk, or cheese. I will revisit once I have a kbd.

      Actually, I can, and I do, assert primary identifying characteristics of that particular collection of faiths - the items which differentiated from its early contemporaries and which followers used to (preferentially) qualify membership - were the health-related 'laws', and in particular those surrounding food.

      But they were far from the first.

      And the point being made was: this has been proven over millennia to be necessary, reasonable. Which you did not address.

      Well, it seems to me you are railing against the Farmgate & Farmgate+ licenses in BC.

      The Farmgate licenses are for small scale producers, up to 5,000 lbs of live animal weight per year. Product may only be sold direct to consumers.

      Farmgate+ allows up to 25,000 lbs of live animal weight, and sales additionally to retail, restaurants, and at farmer's markets.

      Both require very basic knowledge of proper butchering techniques, food safety.

      Ok. Let'us do this, so that my small, pea-sized brain will finally understand:

      "And the point being made was: this has been proven over millennia to be necessary, reasonable. Which you did not address."

      Something dietary something...

      I like proven, necessary and reasonable.

      Go!

      B. Address lack of government tracking of who can, or is, doing what with meters for electricity and gas.

      1. This includes government access to the software source. Which caught my attention.

      I am not sure what might be an issue with this bill?

      From your linking them above, and then stating you are not opposed to red tape (with an implied "but…".)

      If you are primarily discussing S-31, IANAL. I briefly skimmed the amendments. It appears the bill's primary foci are

      A. Create (or endorse) the rôle of an Inspector/Inspecteur for the Minister of Industry and inspectors, providing for the delegation of authority to investigate 'trader' malfeasance.

      @gemlog @Paulatics

      I didn't.

      It allows the minister to delegate who inspects and certifies meters. This is already the case, has always been the case, for nearly every form of measure. The government does not test every speedometer.

      By specifying this is an authority of the minister, the minister will determine the policy by which that certification occurs, making it clearly NOT in the control of, for example, the gas or electricity corporation.

      Will the minister do it well? dunno.

      I believe the bill exists because the Senate believes the Government is corrupt, and they are challenging the House.

      I have an indirect connection with testing meters. But also a passing familiarity with building and testing sensors, and software which monitor them. And you can likely extrapolate my opinion of gas and electrical meters from how hard I am working toward being off-grid (such as on boats.)

      @gemlog

      The text of the bill gives this exact authority to the Inspector. While a contractor, such as yourself, can be delegated to build and set the meter, only the inspector can seal it. And the inspector is made responsible, which may (as I said, IANAL) circumvent the Minister's ability to delegate authority. After all, if you are the one signing off, and you are personally responsible, you may insist on checking it yourself.

      @gemlog

      I do not know why the bill was submitted; I assume there are very good reasons.

      Looking at the bill, it is trying to **change** the same old, same old, by making one specific politician responsible for what happens.

      That is a profound change in our political system - holding a politician responsible for their actions.

      If you cannot see that this is a change, well, we will have to stop discussing it.
