Reading about white midwestern people apparently doing a disservice to rice by putting soy sauce on rice and.. lots of Asian people do that too? People go too much into ‘the only correct Asian food is Japanese and everybody is wrong’ (and even Japanese people are unlikely to make such.. black and white declarations I think)

    Stop making shit up!

Jun | Jun & Tonic on Instagram: "Tinned fish pasta, Malaysian-style 🍝🇲🇾 Not sure if this is purely a Malaysian-Chinese experience, but I grew up eating so much of this tinned fish! 🐟 It's a staple in many kitchens I'm sure; we eat it plain with rice, porridge, stir-fry it with eggs or vegetables, or even work in into some meat dishes. Flavour-wise, it has this really uniquely savory, earthy taste thanks to the fried fish and the salty black beans. And since tinned fish pasta is a thing in Europe, I thought why not turn this into an Asian version of an anchovy pasta! Et voila~ 💁🏻‍♂️ Also funnily enough I never knew the name of this fish until I made this recipe. Like, what actually is a dace..? Why have I not seen dace served or cooked anywhere else apart from in this canned form?! Someone please enlighten me. 🙇🏻‍♂️ Anyway, recipe-wise, you literally just need 4 ingredients for this: 6-8 garlic cloves 60ml (4 tbsp) olive oil 180g (1 can) fried dace black bean 400g pasta ________ #malaysian #pasta #tinnedfish #dace #blackbean"

👀 That's a "poor person lunch"? 😂 I do that from time to time and I am no longer poor. It's good! Smoked eel, or trout, or sardines, or mackerel! Yum! 😋

@skinnylatte Yeah, I’ve done white rice with soy sauce and whatever protein source I had on hand. (This winds up being Spam more often than not.) Is it great? No. Is it something I want to eat over and over again? Also no. But it’s cheap, and it works in a pinch.

@naught101 there are no food rules and there’s also bad taste. Like making a cocktail in a kitchen sink (actual thing I’ve seen). I won’t say people shouldn’t do something but I’ll still call it a crime
