King Philip kill them and kicked out the jews at the same time. He took at the debt owed to them, made it owed to he crown, but forgave the interest.

@petra @Kalogerosstilitis2RevengeoftheJunta @thefinn That's how European royalty got so in debt to them. If the debt got too bad, and the jews too unruly, they'd pogrom them and out they'd go, banished to some other place. They didn't get rid of the jew because the jew influence was bad for their society. That was just the excuse they used, even though that should have been their primary reason.

@LatigoMorgan @petra @thefinn Imagine having an army and knights to your service and actually repaying the jews instead of stiffing them and then hanging them all for "treason" or whatever.

@Kalogerosstilitis2RevengeoftheJunta @thefinn Historically they were used as workarounds for local laws like that by royalty at times, weren't they? Or were there only one or two real instances and they use that to justify everything else. I think I know the answer.

@thefinn Commies here use that argument to justify jews being bankers and userers. "They couldn't have land to toil, so they were forced into precious metals and money lending by Europe's royalty". I remember it from my communist seminary days.
