     @killyourfm yes. But even if they don't produce a laptop, desktop Linux will get loads better as the Steam Machine is targeted for native games.

     This is SUPER exciting. Delivering on the promise of a Steam console the right way 13 years(?) after the initial release. Valve really stuck with it!

     @Sh4d0w_H34rt Haha, I *knew* someone was going to ask this! It absolutely was a coincidence. I knew nothing about the hardware (aside from the long-standing rumors) or the announcement.

     But it's worth mentioning that when I decided to start covering Linux at Forbes back in 2018, a week later Valve announced Proton 😂

     @killyourfm I really only have a steam deck to make Linux gaming on my TV convenient. I barely ever use it as a handheld. I will definitely be swapping out my steam deck for one of these dudes.

     @killyourfm exactly. And I bet it won't be much more expensive. They've got to be at least shooting for the price range of the Xbox and PlayStation.

     I'm geeked. It's exactly what I've wished for since I got my steam deck. Which I absolutely love, but goddamn I miss games having good graphics 🤣

     @alisynthesis I think, at least initially, that Valve lost money on every Steam Deck sold. And think about how much of THAT device is custom (plus it has a screen...)

     But presenting it as a loss leader is a perfectly valid strategy, because that's more customers buying games from Steam. They might not price Steam Machine AS aggressively, but I'm betting the 512GB model comes in under $500.

     @killyourfm oh man, that seems cheap, although the components are pretty much custom, so I'm not sure how much they cost. I would be fully excited about that price point, though.
