@mrsaturday @judgedread @Leyonhjelm They're still here more or less but I dont know that they're doing much.
Half the issue is the courts just letting violent aassholes loose on the streets. I live across the river in Virginia so fortunately Im immune to a lot of those issues.

@mrsaturday @judgedread @Leyonhjelm Oh totally man. DC is a nightmare. The beltway is like the thunderdome. The occasional gunfire doesnt help much either.
Theres a bus that goes right from pentagon to my place in the EZ pass lane so Im home in about 5 minutes. Just goes flying past all the people stuck in traffic.

@ins0mniak @judgedread @Leyonhjelm I haven't messed around in Chicago proper recently, but from what I hear, it's a colossal shitshow
Are they still trying to clean up DC at all, or is it being ignored in favor of Chicago and Memphis?

@mrsaturday @judgedread @Leyonhjelm Yeah its a pain to have a car here bro, insurance, parking, traffic.
I can get around 10x faster just taking the subway or something. Worse comes to worse I just uber, generally only runs me about 7-10 bucks a pop

@ins0mniak @judgedread @Leyonhjelm Metra/CTA does take quite a bit longer than driving, but not dealing with Chicago traffic sending your blood pressure up to four digits and paying $30 for parking makes up for it

@ins0mniak @judgedread @Leyonhjelm If I was in Chicago proper, I'd ditch my car real fast, at least until I had enough saved that I could buy one in cash

@ins0mniak @judgedread @Leyonhjelm I hate it too, but it's either finance or get some clapped out beater that's in and out of the shop so much that your mechanic bills and time off work are basically another car payment

@ins0mniak @judgedread @Leyonhjelm They wouldn't be so bad if they weren't like sand in an hourglass. You know once the last payment goes through and you're free and clear, the engine's gonna blow up

@mrsaturday @judgedread @Leyonhjelm Yeah if I cant pay something off right away I don't buy it.
I got a loan once from school but I spent it all at Microcenter. Other than that I hate owing money

@ins0mniak @judgedread @Leyonhjelm Ford's trying to make it so they can remotely kill your engine if you miss a car payment. Because, you know, making it so people can't drive to work is a great way to get them to pay their bills

The cruel thing is Ford considers this a Lincoln exclusive so it's not something you can enable yourself without a special cable and software. So everyone in the lot has to suffer.
Fortunately Ford and Lincoln truck computers are the same, so it's in there.

@Leyonhjelm @judgedread Man, I cannot get over that shit. Enough time and you're gonna need a subscription to even tturn your own car on.

The Ford F-series (and presumably the Expedition and other related vehicles) have had that "fold mirrors when locked" ability for like a decade on power window models. I did have to use a scantool to program it to do that (they call it "Lincoln Mode" on the software I use).
I think it's just common courtesy to enable this if your machine is capable of it

NGL Tesla's retracting their side mirrors when locked is cool.
Maybe as a fourth car, but I'll have to keep it in a faraday cage... just to be sure.
