I organize many of my household tasks around "Sit Time". I want to maximize the amount of time I get to sit down. This means minimizing "Time Between Sit Downs" by carefully calculating "Steps Between Sit Downs" to be as efficient as possible. I know how long certain things take, like it takes almost 45 seconds to fill up a water bottle from our cooler. I try to minimize distance between each task and avoid retracing my steps.
Last night left me in a meltdown because I tried to do too many things in one night. If I didn't feel the need to count every step of every task and organize them for efficiency it might not have been so bad. That long list just wore on me even as I was ticking through it. By the end I was yelling at myself in gibberish, stomping, and starting to laugh hysterically while also crying.
I really wanted to break things, throw things, bite myself, headbutt a wall, punch a box, but I didn't. My wife already gets scared enough when I meltdown.
"Never again," I say, knowing I'll probably do it again.
