I feel like maybe it's time for me to finally put down the 22 year old Intuos tablet I have and get a monitor I can draw on
They're so expensive tho :(

@aeva Oh interesting! And I see @davidrevoy did a review of one of the xp-pens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmmIwkvZagU
@cwebber having just made the switch I highly recommend it. I have no regrets for buying a cintiq, but I've heard there are other much more affordable options available now. I've heard "gaomon" and "xppen" recommended recently as more affordable alternatives, though I have not used either myself.
@steve It's not really the right aspect ratio for any of the monitors I use so everything ends up a bit squished without me mentally adjusting, for one thing. And it would be really nice, I have an extra monitor that's not very good, and it would be nice to have one that is good
@cwebber But it still works? Your phrasing suggests so. What benefit would you hope to gain from an updated (and, yes, expensive) tablet? Just curious.
@aeva well I love a bitmapped graphic
@cwebber for another option, bmp has a "Huion Kamvas"
THIS moment 🤩 :atari:
@dannotdaniel @aeva @davidrevoy Secret of Mana is so good
@aeva @eq @cwebber @dannotdaniel Hard to tell. But for a quick advices: Wacoms are still the more compatible and offer thanks to that a good quality of life on GNU/Linux. Finding a Cintiq model on the second hand market can be a good choice; for the price, for not purchasing/producing another unit and recycling one in a way, and for the compatibility.
@davidrevoy @eq @cwebber @dannotdaniel which tablet monitor should christine get? also did you play Visions of Mana?
@cwebber @dannotdaniel @aeva @davidrevoy
Secret of Mana is one of my favourites but on PS4? Wasn't that on SNES? Am I too old? Nah
@eq @cwebber @dannotdaniel @aeva It's a remake in 3D but still with the top view and the same game mechanics. It's also published on almost all platform, including ps4. I was curious about it, so I took a copy. I couldn't play it much; I'm too attached to the original.
On my review of the Huion Kamvas 19, I put on the top my original SNES cartridge in Japanese. I'm a big fan of the art direction of this game since my 12 y/o, and it was the first action RPG I ever played.
