Hey #linux community, I’m looking for advice. My mom’s computer is running slow and I’m thinking about installing linux on it. She’s been using windows since 3.1 days, so I dont think gnome would be a good fit. I’m thinking #linuxmint or #kde . Thoughts?
And sorry for my typo, “Zorin OS”
I learned about it from @distrotube & will be trying because it’s UI is easy/windows-like for Linux newbs like me.

Yeah, cinnamon mint was my first go to. But it does look astatically dated. And I dont want her to think she’s getting a “downgrade”. First impressions matter a lot.
Mint is super easy and stable. Mint cinnamon looks a bit like a dated Windows (so will look familar) and comes with a lot of stuff preinstalled such as Libre Office, Thunderbird so it just works out of the box. I have Garuda and a (gutted) Mint on the PC (I don’t like Cinnamon so I switched it to KDE. Just remember KDE is a bit of a buggy mess at times).
My laptop was running like a half dead potato and has since it upgraded from Win 8 so I run Garuda (fairly easy for Arch tbh) off an external SSD and it now goes like ? off a stick.
