   FFS. Now GritHub won't let me see the text in a text file without running their proprietary JavaScript, eg;

   Why is any Open Source project still using this rapidly enshittifying monstrosity? There are dozens of community-hosted replacements, and if you have the skills or support from someone who does, you've even got the option of hosting your own;

     @strypey If you add ?raw=true to the URL - sometimes github will actually send you the file.
     
     The issue is that guessing the file path is often not easy, forcing you to git clone the whole lot.
     
     Such projects are "open source" instead of free software for a reason.

     @strypey @julian I know you know this but to clarify for anyone who might not have realised: git is open source by Linus Torvalds and is beautiful, github.com is a site owned by Microsoft and is not related to git at all.

     The GPLv2 doesn't say "open" in it - it clearly states it is a free software license.
     
     The "open source initiative" may have given 3rd party approval, but that's an insult, as the "OSI" also approves at least 2 proprietary licenses.
