     The Golden Age fallacy .. wishing for a better time that never really was.
     
     It's tradeoffs. You had to plan things. You meet at the tennis courts at 9am to go caving, but Nick doesn't show up. So someone hands me quarter .. and a dime! .. and go to the phone booth and dial his number, because we remember the pattern our friend's numbers make on the phone.
     
     "His mom said he left 30 minutes ago!"
     
     "Then where the hell is he?"
     
     So you just kinda had to wait, if you were good friends.
     
     I think we use to meet at peoples house a lot and then go somewhere together. I won't say it was better, just different. I'm glad I didn't grow up in the pocket-internet-computer age, but I'm not going to look down on people who did.
     
     I still prefer books written before 2020 .. and really before 2010.

     Me too, but it's fun mocking younger people, and in internet age its much easier as you can see the worst specimen of particular generation, the good ones won't be broadcasting themselves.
     
     I particularly like quote by Horace(Circa 20 BC). It rings similar to "Few sons are the equals of their fathers; most fall short, all too few surpass them" - Odyssey. A cool Markov chain if generation is particularly worse then its easier to surpass them...Strong men create good time, good time create weak men.
