  That is an appropriate response, I just never acquired a taste for it. Sure there were a couple of cups of espresso in Rome, but somehow I could never match that here in the states.

  If I drank coffee I would move to Kona and grow my own. I have found it cheaper to just stay home and not drink coffee. That was a close thing.

  It's not designed to taste "good"; it's designed to taste "good enough" for the most people possible.
  
  In brazil they use tons of pesticides on the coffee
  Then they ship it to california to be ultra processed
  Then it goes to a distributor and sits in a warehouse for a while
  Then it goes to a local supplier and sits in a warehouse for a while
  (by this time, the coffee is already stale by the way)
  Then it goes to the store & sits on a shelf for a while
  Then they make it in machines they never clean
  Then a brownoid serves it to you

  @Beefki @Wormwood @Vashna coffee has always been intertwined with desserts because for ages coffee was seen as an indulgence - a special treat from the new world.
  It was not until very recently (the last 100 years or so) that coffee transformed into a thing that people use for energy or waking-up in the morning
  
  Also tiramisu is an italian dessert which uses coffee as an ingredient.

  @elftummy @Beefki @Vashna @Wormwood I used to drink Cafe Bustello about 5 years ago because it somehow had a rep as the huwhite coffee that was good and not price inflated by a brand name. Sorry to hear it is jewed. Peets is decent and served in workplaces here. And they are not insufferable like Starbucks, though I'm sure they are also libs. AboveTime was in Indiana and now in PA I think, I did not know about the Antellope Hill connection.
  I have a standard auto drip for making my morning 16 oz tumbler full, and a Bialetti 4 cup moka when I want espresso in the late afternoon or evening. Works great.

  ....fantastic however that doesn't really relate to my statement. Bitter is absolutely part of a flavor profile that can be used in desserts, however that's got very little to do with these hoes and how much they "love coffee".
