   @PGBeattie It’s food. I shop for our main weekly shop online and every week prices go up. I reckon spending about half as much extra a week as a couple of years ago, ie £100 worth now costing £150. Granted we do still eat meat, although mostly chicken, even mince having more than doubled in price. Even basics like a tin of beans, lentils, rice has gone up dramatically.

     vegan here who is partially housebound

     food has shot up in price

     certain things like grapes now seen as a luxury purchase

     @nusher @PGBeattie yeah, definitely. it's from glasgow, but they're already teetering on a knife's edge in terms of being able to make enough profit to survive.

     @kathimmel @PGBeattie Lucky to get a local veg box, as the quality and variety from supermarkets is dire as well as pricy. £1.20 currently for a cauliflower…

     @nusher @PGBeattie vegan household speaking & i can confirm that it's been the same leap for us. even the cost of our local veg box delivery is insane. i don't know how people who are less well-off than we are (~£35k a year) even manage to meet basic needs. the situation is so unnecessary & completely depressing.

     The principle, I understand, is that wages and benefits have risen in line with increasing costs. But my PIP went up £1.37.

     there's just no political will to address the problems that are contributing to these conditions.
