   @hipsterelectron @wakame Even though Evil is trying to emulate the devil (vi vi vi)'s descendant, it is still free software, AFAIK I know so is Doom. We just call them Evil in jest. But VSCode is not like that (Free, or Open source in name.)

     @contrapunctus @hipsterelectron @tusharhero @wakame It uses electron and electron is proprietary software as it contains proprietary Widevine software and likely more.

     Furthermore, it recommends proprietary plugins (which is really the only way to get support for many programming languages).
     
     Remember, anything from microsoft is always proprietary software, no exceptions - it would be foolish to think microsoft would ever release free software.
