But the truth is, most people sell 19 copies, maybe 20 if they’re lucky—unless you’re Trump, then you sell MILLIONS, believe me!      if you wanna hear a biased perspective to getting writing feeling better, ChatGPT makes for a passable writing partner if your looking for problems / diagnosis, but it's designed to be supporitive / gaslight the user.

     I've actually experienced that with ChatGPT, and I completely changed my habits with the tool after that. The problem is, if you have this tool sitting there gassing you up saying that a piece of writing is the most important and influential piece of writing it of all time, if you don't have your feet nailed to the floor and realize you're probably going to sell 19 copies, then you're going to be really screwed up when you sell 20 copies instead of being happy for beating the odds.
     
     One difference between me and a typical writer is that I was going to write whether the AI gassed me up or not, because you're not dealing with the average science fiction writer here, you're dealing with what you fear the most...

     Damn, if i ever got those numbers i would be beyond myself with elation.
     
     So far, i'm trying to do a bunch of short stories in my setting to see if i can get some attention as well as trying my skill at different things. I know it won't do me much good but tbh i don't know what to beyond going over my rought drafts and rewriting the cringy stuff i did time ago

     A lot of people that start out set their goals impossibly high and they crumble when they cannot reach them.

     this is on my alt author acc where I post romance novellas. super quick turn around and out the door, and I consider this to be 'better' than the return on my main professional series
     
     it's just about doing more, consistency, and sticking to it

     I use it when drafting. Never trust it though. It does get shit wrong, and can make phrases more "wordy" than I like. But it's a good sounding board. Pick, choose, edit.
     
     Gemini is actually better at following direct instructions though, like...
