@RickiTarr Alright, I'm sure there are parents like that out there, but I don't know any. Most people I know with young kids are only too happy to tell you how much hassle they are and how miserable they make their parents' lives.
There are several reasons I don't have kids, some by choice, some not. I'm still glad I don't have kids, but hearing people trash and badmouth kids seriously ruffles me, whether they have kids or not.

Parents who have barely slept, been mostly eating leftover food off their kids plate, almost constantly driving, barely have any alone time, love to tell you that having children is the most rewarding thing they've ever done.

Seriously, huge props to you all, if were up to me the Human Race would have probably just ended, but what you're describing sounds suspiciously like Stockholm Syndrome.

@APBBlue @RickiTarr This is a little bit why I don't have kids, and a lot why I don't have a job, honestly. I grew up surrounded by miserable people who made it pretty clear they wanted my cousins and I to grow up to be miserable, too. It was how we saw other adults got respect. The more complaining you did, the more respect you got. Seriously, if someone was too happy or optimistic, they got judged and made fun of for it. It really happened!

@RickiTarr My mom was worried all the time, and this was in the 1970s and 1980s when there was a lot less to worry about. (I think this is why I never wanted kids -- she seemed miserable.)

Like really, how do people manage having children, and existing in the world as it is now? Are you worried all the time?

Really amazed by people trying to raise kind empathetic children in a difficult world. You probably are the true heroes.
