     @nerthos @ctr @lain I am kind of transitioning away from actual crypto and focusing on fake "internet fun points" for this new tipbot. it will still support basic 10grans integration but all the new features use a fake currency backed by nothing. I am not sure that addresses your point though, it may cause the same problems.

     @sun @ctr @lain I believe the whole NFT thing and "owning" posts/images/whatever is utter bullshit.
     It's good to scam money out of people or for purely recreative things like the trading cards you did years ago, but I don't like the idea of that concept being implemented into any existing services or networks or being integrated with social media. I can't see a scenario where it would improve the network, but I can think of plenty where it would make it worse, as fedi strays further and further from the idea of free sharing of information for fun it was built upon in the early 2010s. That's why I compare it to scopes, which IMO did more damage to fedi than blocklists and protocol breaking did.
     
     Ownership is for physical objects, not for data or ideas; I believe in this as a matter of principle, hence why I upload everything I draw or make without watermarks or branding.
     
     However, if you just want to make a for-fun experimental instance to fuck around with NFT posts, I don't see much harm in that.

     @sun @ctr @lain I've always enjoyed the 10grans toys you built, I just don't want another pseudo-feature integrated into the main network that will in the long run make it worse and less open/public. It's not about whether there's money involved or not.
     
     If it were up to me fedi would still be 100% public posts, open accounts, and the only limitation would be a "I don't want to see this user's posts" button.
