    The mechanics of how the Trump administration is strangling biomedical research in a way that keeps the story quiet: 1. Don't actually cancel grants or tell researchers to stop work. 2. But, at the end of the month, don't pay for work done. 3. Repeat. 4. Universities can't say grants have been canceled because technically they haven't. 5.     Even with all the Nazi salutes and yanking people off the street and shipping them to remote concentration camps, this one strikes me as the most quintessential Trump regime legacy in the making. Science has finally produced a working and potentially affordable cure for late stage cancer, and Trump defunded cancer research.

    Capping indirect costs (the link below, starting at bullet 44 provides an excellent explainer re: indirect costs) kneecaps the #science. #NSF supports research in physics and engineering, as well as research on #genetics, #Parkinsons, #Alzheimer's. Not only will these cuts destroy US leadership in science, but the effects on the bodies in the body politic are profound.
