    @n_dimension @thomasfuchs You make the flawed assumption that "AI tech" will advance, despite all the best training data already have being used.

    Sure models may get cheaper to train, and there may be more handrails to prevent the worst outcomes. But even for a modest goal of 100x fewer incorrect results there is simply no path.

      @thomasfuchs

      You make the flawed assumption that AI tech will not advance.
      That has not been the case so far.
      Not sure why you might think this since there is no evidence for that.

      @thomasfuchs Oh don't worry, as infrastructure damage piles up and economies, supply chains, collapse there won't be as much work for highly skilled labor as priorities shift to more corporeal needs, so it all balances out in the end 😄😁💀🤡

      @thomasfuchs Thank you. This is the grounding content I need after ‘accidentally’ spending too much time on LinkedIn that it’s succeeding in making me FOMO.

      What an insufferable place.

      @thomasfuchs AI can get better and probably will. There are a lot of companies that hire developers now not to write code, but to train AI. If that were done in a serious manner and not just to milk VC money, it could actually produce something very competitive maybe. The ethics would also be much cleaner, and the processing costs maybe go down as the tech improves like with blockchain.

      Who knows. I do lean toward inevitable here. We're just really far from that point.

      @thomasfuchs I like how companies want to externalize their workforce costs to another company as if that other [ai] company wont bleed them dry.

      @thomasfuchs Hmmm...... Part of your writing is similar in the thoughts I gave to an IT professor after listening to her talk at an event.
      I also mentioned it being based on the largest data heist in history.
      She wasn't amused, and the moderator switchted to the next question.....

        Businesses that rush to use AI to write content or computer code, often have to pay humans to fix it.

      @thomasfuchs I hadnt heard it articulated that way. Based on my own experiences with claude code and all the rest, I think you've made an insightful point that really rings true to me.
