@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain Can all this nonsense just stop? Please.
Free speech matters. The law is clear on incitement or defamation/libel/slander.
Artists should be free to make the art they wish to. Those who do not wish to partake can go elsewhere.
I suspect this is a bit of a ploy to:
1 - make Glasto look relevant/interesting to those of us (even in Somerset like me!) who know it's just for Tarquin and Jocasta to pretend to be anti-establishment, and
2) to promote the career of an artist who needs a gimmick to get some column inches.-

@KeepTakingTheSoma Back in the day, people got drunk, stoned and wore cheap t-shirts with slogans. They got high listening to the bands, wore the same things for 3 days. pissed in buckets, and slept in whatever tent they could find. Then they packed up and went home so their long-suffering mothers could irradiate their clothing. Wtf happened? KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain Wherever there are people, there are those who find ways to make them part with their money. And we've seen how good corporations are at marketing slogans and fashionable causes while pretending they're the counter-culture. It was inevitable. -

@KeepTakingTheSoma All good ideas become corrupted. I fucking hate people sometimes.
They'd better make the most of it, because if we end up with the Sharia law they seem to love so much, the only public events will be executions.KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain @KeepTakingTheSoma Hilarious too that the bloke who lets them use it has dodged millions in tax, so socialist.

@HebrideanHecate @KeepTakingTheSoma You honestly couldn't make this shit up.
The way I see things going, in many ways, not just with music festivals, is that they'll be scrapped and we'll start again from the roots. Like we've seen happening with women's rights over the last few years. We've rebuilt.KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@Lady_Penelope @HebrideanHecate @KeepTakingTheSoma There used to be one like that in Wiltshire called the Larmer Tree. It was basically run by hippies. My younger sister and her friends spent several days a year there. The vibe was great, it was free to get in, etc. Then it was taken over and became corporate, and all the DFLs would travel down in their 4X4s. The locals were priced out when they started charging 100s of quid for tickets. Such a shame. KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain @HebrideanHecate @KeepTakingTheSoma One of the best festivals I've ever been to was just a bunch of late 20s stoners setting up a couple of dance tents in a field in County Mayo. Can't even remember the name of it, it was that good. KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain @HebrideanHecate @KeepTakingTheSoma I don't even think there was a cost. We helped put the tents up and msy have brought some sound/DJ equipment, I forget.
Only downside was there wasn't a single female act on the bill. When I complained to the organiser he was actually quite apologetic and immediately said I could remedy that by getting on stage. In my shit faced, black sambuca drinking state I agreed, only for them to hand me an electric guitar, which I've never played before. In the end my mate played along while I led the crowd in a club style rendition of Wonderwall and I staggered off half proud, half utterly scundered. -

@Lady_Penelope @HebrideanHecate @KeepTakingTheSoma They just don't make festivals like that any more.
From what my sister tells me, that's how the Larmer Tree started out. They'd all rock up with their paper-thin tents and tie-dye balloon trousers, with a stash of weed in their backpacks. They'd usually have a designated backpack full of cans of cheap booze, and several would have guitars and/or bongos.KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@Lady_Penelope @TriptychTwinsRidesAgain @HebrideanHecate I went to one in Cambridge for a few years, but it's a bit far away from me now. I prefer smaller festivals.
