   So i've been working maybe like 10 hours per week the last two months. And i swear to god I'm never going back.
   
   I'm not rich but I pay my bills and holy fuck, i wake up every day whenever i want to. I'm never trading my time for money again because now that i've tasted what a chill life is like, idk if i can go back...

     @Humpleupagus idk man, i just gave up and started only focusing on paying my bills, putting some money in savings, ect.
     
     For example i can work 10 hours per week and still save some money (not much) but i can actually live like this.

     Yeah. I work a bit more than 10 hours a week, but I did make a decision at one point that I wasn't going to be a firm fag, putting in 60, and end up divorced by 45 with a triple bypass by 60.
     
     I work mostly from home, and hug my kids every morning when I wake up and every night before they go to bed. And my wife and I are rarely apart.
     
     Planning for tomorrow and yet not missing today is a difficult dance.

     Self-employment is really the key. You really have to be in a position to set your own hours.
     
     I had a real shit weekend thanks to a bank error. By Monday, when I got everything resolved, the fire drained, leaving me whipped. So I said fuck it, I'm taking the day off. I can do that.
     
     I also have very little stamina doing law work. I can do all sorts of other shit all day long, but I can only work about two hour blocks at a time max on client matters. So I'll work a little in the morning. A little in the afternoon. Sometimes at night. Make phone calls while I'm lifting, etc.
     
     I've also been doing this long enough to be keen to clients monopolizing my time. The real key is to never meet when the client wants to meet. I know it's kind of dickish, but once you let the client dictate any scheduling, there is a contingent that will think my scheduling and meter is their prerogative. I have to cut the possibility off early. Plus, of they're really serious about my services, they meet when I say.
     
     To put it another way, to pull it off, you really have to control time.

     Good contractors are hard to find out here. Most are like you. They work on their own schedule.
     
     I just has my HVAC replaced. I put a call into two guys. One was a local guy known for getting stuff done, but being on his own clock. The other was a client who runs a large shop. I made an appointment with the big shop immediately, but it's a week out. Small guy doesn't call me back until 2 days later... I'll be there this afternoon. Inspects old unit, orders a motor for that unit to get it up (was still broken though. Cracked drain pan). Had it installed before big shop appointment (which I canceled of course). It did take another week and a half to get the new gear though, but I assume that was still faster and at a better price than big shop.

     Yeah. Collection is all over the place on my business. I don't like having to take trust deposits because of the regulations, so I've become pretty good at testing potential clients. Requiring a consult fee is primary. If someone won't pay me for a consult, they're not going to pay me invoice.
     
     Referral source is another indicator.

     I've litigated cases where the opposing siblings admitted that they have no intent to get a penny out of he estate or family business. Their only intent it to cause everyone else to blow through their inheritance or to tank the business in defense because they hate their family and deceased parents that much. And these are case where the estate is equally divided, not even a dis-inheritance.

Yea that was a fun night in the slammer for me, stole my mothers car twice, convinced enough people he has schizophrenia and now lives in a group home rent free with three hots and a cot. Is able to walk out to pan handle for smokes, beer but is able to hide it from the nigger staff there. When I pick him up to visit our elderly mother it always got $20 or steals from her purse when I am not looking. He knows when she passes him and I split her house and bank account where we both roughly inherent if cashed out and sell the home 1.5 million each. Just watch as he miraculously is able to live on his own all of a sudden and never worked a day in his life by being a complete scumbag his whole life. No, I don't hate him, enough. He will die alone.
