    Here is a general call for folks who know the latest #Piefed - and especially its new feeds function, to help us set this up: https://piefed.social/f/renewedresistence

    The #threadiverse is far more activated than most know and we would like to make PieFed our home base for upvoting links, and to federate them out to THIS account to boost.... We want to be organizng ALL across the open social web, and so much good work is being done on #Lemmy #PieFed #Mbin... (and maybe elsewhere, let us know if we miss any)

    cc: @piefedadmin @rimu

      @renewedresistance Here's what I found out. PieFed Feeds are built to federate, but not many platforms know how to handle the request right now.

      Think of it as attempting to follow a starter pack. Once you follow the pack, it sends your account "Add" requests for every entry in the pack. If the admin of the starter pack adds a new community next week, you'll receive a new "Add" request related to the pack account.

      Pretty cool, I do wish more platforms supported this!

      @piefedadmin @rimu

      This (we think) should be federating out to this account: @renewedresistence@piefed.social

      ...but not sure we set this up correctly yet, or if it just takes time for new feeds to do their federating thing.

      @box464 @renewedresistance Hmmm. So did I do something wrong, or do I need to do something additional to make @renewedresistence@piefed.social findable and followable?

      @tchambers @renewedresistance You will not be able to make @renewedresistence@piefed.social findable **outside of other PieFed instances**.

      I did get lucky on Snac and it found that account, but I don't think it followed up and added the related communities, just the main account. So it will never show posts.

      @box464 @renewedresistance Thanks, and to be sure I read you correctly: so PieFed feeds DO federate now, but for time being, only to other PieFed servers? In future will they federate out to all ActivityPub?

      @tchambers @renewedresistance Correct, only federates with other PieFed servers.

      In order to federate with say, Mastodon, or more likely Lemmy, they would have to implement PieFed’s logic, which can be found here:

      @box464 @renewedresistance Ok one area on this I’d like your opinion on Jeff: do you think this technique might hold promise for more complex ActivityPub based feeds in general beyond just #piefed and upvoting services? For things like @newsmast or @surf feeds one day?

      @tchambers @renewedresistance @newsmast @surf @rimu @evan My concern would be how it performs with large numbers of actors in a collection. You’d have to have pagination configured for sure. It might end up overwhelming your regular timeline. Better to treat is somewhat like a list?

      Upvotes…I mean I guess that’s just likes, right?

      We have a new task force for remixing and aggregation at the Social Community Group. We should get on this!
