Know at least three men right now all going through either divorces or breakups, all on the woman's part. Not because any of them have done anything wrong, but because they're not good enough. This is the only thing that makes me glad to be single.
I'm not extremely old, but in my experience, it has only been women who seek to destroy marriage. They have no regard for covenants/oaths before God. If you're going to look for a wife, you better make damned sure she obeys God. If not, you're setting yourself up for failure.
The common trend I notice is that these women either aren't Christian or do not take their faith seriously.

@Will2Power I'm gonna offer the counter point here, just because I can, because of lived experience.
I've been "married" for 18 years now. Its in quotes because it isn't official in the eyes of man or law or god or anyone else but I don't care for anyone else's opinion. This is actually a problem now because of legal obligations etc. and other bullshit, but we'll get that fixed.
I'm with my wife *because I want to be here*. She's with me *because she wants to be here*. If either of us wanted to leave, then the door's wide open. I'm a charmer, I could find someone else if I wanted. I'm funny, witty, clever, and I eat pussy like I get paid for it. And yet, we're here, both of us, together, as we have been, and will be, because we want to be here.
The point I'm trying to make is: Obligation doesn't keep people together, love does.

@prettygood I'm glad that y'all are compatible, however, I don't think society can exist if we don't have oaths/vows/obligations.
Personally, I think oath breakers should be executed. Not only because it would be right and just, but also that it would have a eugenic effect on our population.

@Will2Power I'm a hardcore monogamist so I tend to generally agree with you. But my stance is that the oaths should be private, or at most subject to societal acknowledgement. That is to say, tribal status rather than legal status.
Its worth noting I'm as pro-government of a person as you will find, and yet in the context of personal relationships I think they need to fuck right off.

@prettygood @Will2Power I shouldn’t have to marry my girlfriend to pay for her healthcare or claim her as a dependent.

@sapphire @Will2Power say it louder for the people in the back.

@prettygood I think the tribe should probably kill you for violating an oath.

@Will2Power *if* you violate the oath. I'm unbreakable in that regard.

Legality wise it makes life a lot easier. Suppose you are in a bad accident, unable to speak.... your girl/boyfriend has no legal ability to make decisions for you. If you die without a will, they will have to fight the court or other family members for your assets. If you don't want to be officially married, you should at least have power of attorney for each other.

On the otherhand, you may have cheaper insurance because you aren't married. Nothing you do or apply is affected by "household total income", that could be good for insurance but bad for finacing a large item.
