   Right but we were selling replacement parts before that and it always seemed US- initiated. By 1985 Israel was seeing Iran as a proxy to fight Iraq.

     But Israel wasn't fighting Iraq. Iraq invaded Iran. Israel wasn't a party. Nonetheless, they were willing to provide arms to a regime that at that time had and continually called for the destruction of Isreal.
     
     Going back to my original point. The post I was replying to states iran getting some due retribution for things that occurred before and during the very period Israel and the US were selling them military gear. He's parroting the media, not the reality. If Iran was so evil, even back then, Israel would never have sold them arms.
     
     Tl;dr whatever Israel is up to, it has nothing to do with the moral character of the iranian regime.
