ill be honest I came close to getting an Apple Card and getting myself a Mac Mini out of curiosity. I already have Clip Studio Paint and FL Studio and they're Mac but not on Linux.
At this point I don't even game anymore, I just get more out of being productive.

@Anonsfw macos on desktop sucks. mouse acceleration and inverted scrolling are locked on, and the stupid fn key isnt available on normal keyboards.
just get an M2 Pro or higher macbook pro for way less than the $1400 they charge for an M4 Pro mini

@why @Anonsfw You can turn both of those off, and just for mice. But macos still sucks in other, delightful, more different ways than that.

@idiot @Anonsfw with third party applications or non intuitive system configuration, with no certainty that it wont break after the next update.
true enlightened computer touchers conclude that all operating systems suck, and there is no "option" for doing things "as you like" you will always be constrained by some dumb decision made decades ago

@why @idiot @Anonsfw I am more or less still on macos because the hardware is good, and inertia. I 100% prefer a Linux system (when it works)

@idiot @Anonsfw its eventually fine and stops being a hassle and provides an environment to do work or slack off, like most computers

@why @Anonsfw Honestly? I saw the different toggles in the Mouse and Trackpad menus and figured they were disconnected from each other. Honestly I just got used to natural scrolling on mouse and never investigated further.
But yeah, the 3rd party application meme is prolific throughout the whole system. Sucks, no two ways about it.

@idiot @Anonsfw okay i must be going insane.
the settings pointer acceleration off feels wrong incorrect though a lot of the tests like moving in circles or slow then fast still pass. using 3rd party app CursorSense i can actually set the accel curve to flat and it feels right. maybe its bias or something but its different
scrolling yes you can turn it off but that also changes how trackpads work. if youre desktop only i guess its fine, but theres still acceleration on scrolling which isnt disabled from this setting. i use a 3rd party app DiscreteScroll which fixes this
i am very picky about input devices so i guess for normal people what they have is fine. at least apple doesnt call acceleration "increase pointer accuracy" and bury it 10 menus deep
